Here is an amazing and heart-warming story from Nazim, a flight attendant on Delta Flight 15:

On the morning of Tuesday, Septem ber 11, 2001 we were about 5 hours out of Frankfurt, flying over the North Atlantic. All of a sudden the curtains parted and I was told to go to the cockpit, immediately, to see the captain.

As soon as I got there I not iced that the crew had that "All Business" look on their faces. The captain handed me a printed message. It was from Delta's main office in Atlanta and simply read, "All airways over the Continental United States are closed to commercial air traffic. Land ASAP at the nearest airport. Advise your destination."

આપણે હોંશે હોંશે મીઠાઇ ખાઇએ છીએ. ક્યારેક ‘પ્રસાદ’ રૂપે તો ક્યારેક તહેવારની ઉજવણી રૂપે. તો ક્યારેક એમ જ. મોટા ભાગની મીઠાઇ પર ‘ચાંદી’ના વરખ લગાડેલા હોય છે. બહુ ઓછા લોકો જાણે છે કે આ વરખ શુદ્ધ શાકાહારી ગણાતા નથી. વરખ શી રીતે તૈયાર થાય છે એ જાણશો તો કદાચ તમને મીઠાઇ ગળે નહીં ઊતરે. બટેટાની વેફર કરતાંય પાતળું વરખ જે રીતે બનાવવામાં આવે છે એની વિગતો ચોંકાવનારી છે. બ્યુટી વિધાઉટ ક્રૂએલ્ટી નામની સ્વૈચ્છિક સંસ્થાએ વરખના નિર્માણ પાછળની નક્કર માહિતી મેળવીને રજૂ કરી પરંતુ સ્થાપિત હિતોએ એ હકીકતો દબાવવા જબ્બર પ્રયત્નો કર્યા.
